Can you believe it’s been 10 years since Les Mills first burst onto the fitness scene? I still remember my first BodyPump class like it was yesterday. The pulsing beat of the music, the energy in the room, the burn in my muscles – I was hooked!
Now Les Mills has grown into a global fitness phenomenon. Millions of people across 100 countries sweat it out to Les Mills programs every week. From humble Kiwi beginnings, this New Zealand export has become a worldwide wellness revolution.
The 10th anniversary celebration in Mexico was the party of the year. Over 1,000 people came together to mark the occasion – instructors, participants, industry experts, you name it. As a longtime Les Mills fanatic, I just had to be there!

The Evolution of Awesome
Les Mills has come a long way over the past decade. Back in 1968, Les Mills World of Fitness first opened its doors in New Zealand. Fast forward to 1992, and Les Mills International was born after being purchased by Phillip Mills. This set the stage for global expansion.
It all started with the BodyPump barbell class. Choreographed weight training set to motivating music? Genius! My muscles were screaming, but I could not get enough. Next came favorites like BodyCombat (martial arts), BodyBalance (yoga), CXWorx (core) and more. These programs completely changed how people view group fitness.
Les Mills did not just reinvent exercise classes – they perfected the science behind workouts. Trainers carefully design programs incorporating the latest research on cardio, strength, flexibility and more. Each 45-60 minute class challenges you from head to toe, while making sure you get maximum results.
Celebrating in Style
The 10th anniversary party was the perfect time for Les Mills fans to reconnect and reflect. As we gathered at Mexico, there was a palpable energy in the air. Fitness buffs from far and wide were eager to celebrate this fitness phenomenon.
The venue was decked out in true Les Mills style. Neon lights flashed, display boards depicted favorite programs, and lounge areas offered sleek black leather couches. It was the perfect mix of nightclub ambiance and luxury. Whoever did the decorating deserves a medal!
So why leather couches at a fitness celebration? This unexpected design choice actually made total sense once I saw it in action. The cool smooth leather provided the perfect spot to relax after a heart-pumping workout on the demo stage. Lounging on those couches made me feel like fitness royalty – very appropriate for such a monumental occasion.
Beyond the sensory appeal, the leather also reminded me of how far Les Mills has come. Like quality leather that gains character over time, the brand has evolved and improved while staying true to its original vision. Just looking at those couches I could imagine the next 10 years and beyond. If the last decade is any indication, the future is bright!

The interactive stations also emphasized Les Mills’ focus on building community. Chatting with new friends while we waited to demo classes. Sharing tips during workouts. Cheering each other on. This bond between participants is at the heart of these fitness experiences.
Thoughtful touches like motivational quotes on the mirrored walls reinforced that Les Mills is all about encouraging people to be their best selves – physically AND mentally. This event brought the brand’s inspiring mission to life.

As the confetti fell signaling the end of the epic event, I felt motivated and ready to tackle my next decade of fitness. Les Mills has carried me through first workouts to gym addiction and beyond. I have a feeling the next 10 years of sweating with Les Mills by my side will be the best yet.
